NAP12 - An to early visit

NAP or Nimmanhaemin Art & Design Promenade used to be one of Chiangmai's hidden treasures.

Started from the boredom of a small group of shops inside the Nimmanhaemin road 1st alley, now 12 years has passed with more than 70 exhibitors and a professional organizer holding the paddle it has transform to an annual tourist fair.

This year my sister's shop is decorated in yellow or gold according to the designer's "Golden Flower" theme.

I went there this morning around 11 am. and everything was still sleepy that is one thing that has never changed about NAP it has always been a late starter. Our shop was the among the few operating before noon.

A handful of people started walking around (mostly Japanese) on the bright side i had the chance to take photos of the booth with out crowed people in front of it. I hope i could be there again on Saturday noon to fully catch the hype.

I hope my sister shop does good this year, also wish everyone visiting the fair to get both the cool gifts they want and the good experience they expected.

Seminar

Today I attended a seminar about the new EU-GSP rules of origin. Surprisingly it was packed but more surprisingly it was all spoken in english! A thing I consider rare for a seminar in Chiang mai and the best thing is that they had small reception machines (those walk man like gadgets) for people who needed translation. Wow! Have to said I am very impress only that I should have taken one of them since I had problem understanding the speakers thick accent. Nice seminar after all (Le Meridian's food all always nice)

เป็นสัปดาห์ที่ประกอบไปด้วย งานแต่งงาน, งานศพ และ ฝนตก แปลกมากๆ

เริ่มต้นวันจันทน์ด้วยงานมงคลสมรสของเพื่อนสมัยมัธยมปลาย ชื่นมื้นครับ ไม่ได้เจอเพื่อนคนนี้นานนนมากๆแล้ว ครั้งสุดท้ายที่เจอกันนั้นตอนไปงานศพพ่อเค้าเลย ตัวเราเองขาดการเจอเพื่อนๆสมัยเรียนมัธยมไปหลายปี เนื่องไปทำงานต่างจังหวัด กลับมาอยู่เชียงใหม่ได้ครับปีหน่อยๆแล้ว เลยต้องออกงานเจอเพื่อนเก่าๆบ้าง

ทำให้ได้เข้าใจอีกอย่างว่า งานแต่งงานมันก็คือ งานเจอพบป่ะเพื่อนฝูงดีๆนี้เอง เพื่อนๆที่ไม่ได้เจอกันเป็นสิบปี ก็ได้มาเจอกันงานนี้แหละ สนุกดี

เช้าวันอังคารกลายเป็นหนังคนละแนว เมื่อได้ข่าวว่าพ่อเพื่อนอีกคนได้จากไป เป็นความจริงที่ว่าไม่ค่อยได้พบพ่อเพื่อนคนนี้เท่าไร ทั้งชีวิตเจอประมาณครั้งสองครั้งเห็นจะได้ แต่ก็อดใจหายไม่ได้ อีกทั้ง สนิทกับเพื่อนคนนี้พอควร เพื่อนคนอื่นๆถามว่าในงานศพแบบคริสต์นั้น ต้องไปช่วยงานอะไรหรือเปล่า? เลยตอบไปว่า "ไม่น่าจะต้อง" เนื่องจากทางโบสถ์เค้าก็มีบุคลากรครบครันอยู่แล้ว สมัยนี้ผมว่าไม่ว่าจะวัดไหน ทั้งคริสต์ พุธ อิสลาม เค้ามีพร้อม ทั้งสถานที่ กำลังคน เจ้าภาพไม่ต้องเสียเวลาปวดหัวกับเรื่องพวกนี้ ขนาดของว่างก็เป็นกล่องๆพร้อม ไม่ต้องยุ่งยากทำเอง เป็นวิถีของคนในเมืองใหญ่ที่เวลาแสนมีค่ายิ่ง

ปลายๆสัปดาห์ฝนตกตอนเย็นแทบทุกวัน

ผมเลยไปร่วมพิธีไว้อาลัยทั้งสามคืนเลย เนื่องในวันณาปนกิจ ต้องไปตรวจร่างกายและเฝ้าที่สอนพิเศษ

ในช่วงพิธีศพนั้น ได้รับข้อคิดเห็นดีๆสองข้อ คือ "พระเจ้าเท่านั้นที่จะเป็นผู้ตัดสินชะตาของคนๆหนึ่ง" และ "สำหรับบางคน วันตายนั้นดีกว่าวันเกิด"

ว่าด้วยเรื่องที่สอนพิเศษ มีเรื่องที่น่ายินดีคือ มีกลุ่มนักเรียนเข้ามาสมัคร และได้ทำการให้สอบ Placement test แล้วด้วย หวังว่าจะเป็นอีกหนึ่งกิจการที่เสริมสร้างรายได้ให้กับบ้านเรา

วันอื่นๆนอกจากนั้นไม่ค่อยมีอะไร ยังคงไม่ขยันเท่าที่ควรครับ ต้องใจกล้าที่จะรับการปฎิเสธมากกว่านี้

สุดสัปดาห์ทั้ง แม่และฝนไปต่างจังหวัดอยู่บ้านคนเดียว ส่วนผลการตรวจร่างกายนั้นค่อยข้างแย่

Triglyceride 281/170 อันนี้น่ากลัวมากๆ

สรุป อยู่ในเกณฑ์ 2 หลุดกรอบ 4
ต้องออกกำลังกับควบคุมอาหารอย่างสุดชีวิตแล้ว

My friend's Thai style ceremony.

Yesterday i went to a friend's wedding. In Thailand these days we normally do the traditional style in the morning. The Thai style is the couple let the elders tide a merit rope on their wrist. As a blessing for the couple to be bold forever.

In the evening we have the normal party. Like westerner have the ceremony in church in the afternoon then moving to the party.

I some how felt like weddings these days are like reunion parties, you meet friends who you haven't seen for ages.
Then they are you just came and sit beside them. That's also the fun of wedding.

Concentration

Yesterday my friend visited me at the office another friend also came, the later bringing an i-pod. I just want to share this picture to show you how addictive the games on this device are.

I took a picture of my friend while he was gaming on the i-pod, transferred it to my note book and then took another picture, seeing he was still in the same position.

This is a great demonstration of how amazing concentration can work also how fun the games are.

This has became very hot during the past few days. It seems like the summer sun is confuse and woke up to shine during the rainy season.

Our orchid at our dorm has bloom to welcome the burning heat.

The weather in Chiangmai has become very bizarre this year (actually all over the world perhaps).

Any way i like the orchid flower at our family dorm very much (I hope the residents here like them to)

A little disappointing there is no cow on the field today.

The only down side is it is extremely hot. In Chiang mai the weather is dry. So it from rainy last week to dry hot this week. Wow!!!The world gets worst and worst. 

Thailand Election 2011

People gather to see the counting.

Last Sunday was the Thailand election day.

Don't know why i have been through so many elections in my life. I don't know for other countries but for me it I loss count.

I woke up in the morning with enthusiasm and travel to the election site with my parents and wife only to found out i had to vote in Bangkok, this was the result from the last election 3 years ago. When i was still working in Bangkok and register for a pre-vote for people outside their normal voting area. But after 3 years i was still stuck in that area. Very strange decision from the Election Committee.

Anyway I though this election was good. I don't know about the vote buying or vote rigging but i seems good for me. I went there to see the counting and it looks very transparent.

Thailand is slowing progressing in Democracy. The result of this election shows that people are more concern about the whole picture than local. We now have 2 big parties and the middle and small are vanishing. It is better if one party can gain enough MP to form a single government. It gives more stability and direction in governing the country.

So Thailand is about to have her 1st female prime minister lets see what happens next.

Chiang mai for World expo 2020

Wow! Today i saw this sign about Chiang Mai biding for host city of the 2020 World EXPO!

Amazed and excited i couldn't resist to stop and take a pic.

Then i had to search more about it and found out that 2 others cities in Thailand which are Chon buri and Ayutthaya also have submitted bids .

To be honest i'm quite surprise about our cites aiming for such an international exhibition but it is still almost 10 years to go.

Hopefully we will be prepare then. :)
